Landscaped estate garden at golden hour

Landscape design since 1998

Gardens that grow more beautiful every season.

A studio of designers, horticulturists, and stone masons shaping outdoor spaces across the region, with the patience the craft deserves.

Our Studio

We believe a garden is a slow conversation between a place and the people who live with it, one held in soil, stone, water, and light.

Thistlewood is a small team led by principal designer Anna Whitfield. We take on a limited number of projects each year so every garden receives the attention of the people who drew it.

Services

Design, build, and care, all under one roof.

Every project moves through the same considered hands, from first sketch to twentieth season of pruning.

Approach

Slow work, deep roots.

I.

Listen

A long first walk of the site with you: sun angles, drainage, the view from the kitchen window, the trees worth keeping.

II.

Draw

Hand-sketched concepts, refined into planting plans and construction drawings you can hold.

III.

Build

Our own crews on site, no subcontracted surprises. Stone laid by hand, plants set with room to grow.

IV.

Tend

Optional seasonal care, so year five looks even better than year one.

Reviews

What our clients say.

"They saw possibilities in our lot we'd walked past for a decade. Three years later, the garden looks like it has always been there."

Margaret & Paul H.

Cedar Grove

"Meticulous, quiet, unhurried. The crew treated our old stone walls like heirlooms and left the property cleaner than they found it."
